About PIC Foundation

Parents in Charge Foundation (PIC), exists to educate on behalf of school choice reform at the grassroots level. Since its founding in March 2001, the Parents in Charge Foundation’s education and awareness efforts have played an instrumental role in school choice victories in Arizona and Washington, D.C. Parents in Charge has also supported efforts in Colorado, Florida, South Carolina, and Utah. PIC also supports research and public education on state taxation and spending, because K-12 spending is the biggest category in most state budgets.

PIC is proud to report several campaign successes.

PIC locates and publicizes facts about the history of school performance, to identify "hidden" public support for school choice, and to research and disseminate information on the impact of education reform across all demographic groups. PIC works with its grassroots affiliates to achieve its goals through:

  • Canvassing
  • Education
  • Networking
  • Outreach
  • Policy studies

Because current public schooling efforts are bogged down by layers of bureaucracy and political agendas that undermine the ability of the school to educate students, PIC encourages legislation that will empower parents and their children with the freedom to pursue an education in the primary and secondary institution of their own choosing. Competitive and independent enterprise allows for unlimited innovation in the learning environment; increased choice for students and parents results in academic vigor.

By providing tax credits to individual families choosing to pursue alternatives to public education, government regulation of independent schools can be avoided. Additionally, parents who currently choose independent schools for their children’s education won't have to support the public schools in addition to paying their children’s independent school tuition.

Parents in Charge is working to pass legislation that will make schools—public and private alike—better for American families. PIC will support the research, education, and publicity that will allow citizens to make informed decisions about their future. With your support, our dream of a better school system can become a reality.
